About Us-

Rockford Sexual Assault Counseling is a group of caring professionals who provide 24-hour counseling for victims of sexual assault and abuse in Winnebago, Boone and Ogle Counties. All counselors and volunteers have received special training in working with victims and their families.

Our History-

Two women from UIC who felt it was wrong to have sexual assault victims enter the emergency room without the provision of support and information started Rockford Sexual Assault Counseling (RSAC) in 1977. With funding from the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault beginning in 1982 and Rockford United Way beginning in 1984, RSAC has grown into a professional and volunteer nonprofit agency that serves Winnebago, Boone and Ogle counties. Thirteen professional staff and thirty volunteers provide the five key services to survivors and significant others.

Mission Statement-

Rockford Sexual Assault Counseling, Inc. (RSAC) responds to the needs of victims of sexual assault/ abuse and their families/significant others through emergency services, emotional support, counseling, referral, advocacy, and education, and promotes awareness and understanding of sexual assault. The focus of RSAC is to provide services to survivors of sexual assault/abuse and to educate the community to reduce the risk of sexual violence.
